Intento hacer ilustraciones e historias que se puedan relacionar con la gente común; muchos de mis dibujos están basados en personas reales y creo que agrega un sentido de familiaridad a mi trabajo. Creo que hay belleza incluso en los entornos y situaciones más mundanos, y mi objetivo es hacerlo interesante y hermoso. Creo que mi estilo de cómic retro, lo hace.
Tell us about your artistic proposal I try to make illustrations and stories that are relatable to everyday people; a lot of my drawings are based on real people and I think it adds a sense of familiarity to my work. Qué técnicas usas?
Por lo general, primero comienzo con un boceto a lápiz, luego lo escaneo y hago el entintado y coloreado en Clip Paint Studio. Todos los efectos de papel envejecido se realizaron utilizando páginas escaneadas de viejas novelas de pulpa y todos los colores están hechos de medios tonos (hice mucha investigación sobre la coloración de cómics desde la época dorada de los cómics y siento que tengo una aproximación muy cercana.
What techniques do you use? I usually start with a pencil sketch first, then I scan it and do the inking and coloring in Clip Paint Studio. All the aged paper effects were done using scanned pages from old pulp novels and all the colors are made out of halftones (I did a lot of research on comic book coloring from the golden age of comics and I feel like I have a very close approximation)

Talk about your beginnings. I started drawing in high school and really didn't show an interest in anything else. I spent a lot of time making really exaggerated cartoons like the ones I watched as a kid, but I never felt like I really succeeded at it. I really loved comic book artists like Daniel Clowes and Charles Burns at the time so I tried to make work inspired by theirs, and I found it came much easier to me.
Qué iniciativas y motivaciones tuviste?
Eventualmente quiero hacer una serie de cómics, casi todo lo que he hecho recientemente está en servicio de hacer precisamente eso. What initiatives and motivations did you have? Eventually I want to make a comic book series, pretty much everything I've done recently is in service of doing just that. Eventually I'd like to make work that's high quality and fast enough to compete with the old school masters at EC comics, but I don't know how feasible a goal that is.
